Overview

When creating a new DISE Movie from a template, you need only to change parts of the presentation. The rest of the formatting is already complete. A new DISE Movie from a template is by default locked for editing with the exception of selected editable fields such as texts, images or videos. This article will describe how to use, create and edit templates and how they relate to other parts of content creation.

New from template

Selecting File > New in DISE Composer, in addition to letting you create a new empty DISE Movie, will present you with the available templates.

First select the screen definition above, whether you want to create a landscape or portrait presentation, then below select from the list of available presets. Finally, to the right, select if you want to create a new DISE Movie from the template using a certain resolution.

Create a new template

You can create your own template and have it appear in the File > New section. To create a template, follow the below example:

  • Start with a regular DISE Movie (New > Empty Movie, or already existing one).
  • Go to the Movie tab in the ribbon and click the Convert to template movie ConvertToTemplateMovieButton.png button.
Answer Yes in the dialog box.
  • Insert an image object.
  • Select the image object and go to the Template tab in the ribbon.
  • Check the Object is a template object button.
This specifies that the object is editable when a new DISE Movie is created from this template.
The fact that the object is editable will be symbolized with a colored border.

Lightbulb.png Note: Not all objects can be "template objects". Image, video, text and ticker objects are possible.

  • Also add an image as a background, by inserting another image object, right-clicking on it and selecting Use object as background. This is to show that it will be locked for editing.
  • Next, save the DISE Movie in the "C:\DISEContent\Templates" directory (depending on DISEContent path).
  • Select File > New.
You should now see your newly created template with a thumbnail.

New from template

Begin by creating a new DISE Movie from a template in File > New. The new contains everything that was in your template, with the difference that everything not specifically marked for editing will be locked. You can drag-and-drop images and video to image and video objects and select text objects and instantly type in text.

You can add scenes to your new movie as you would normally. These new scenes will not be locked.

Lightbulb.png Note: Edits made to a template after DISE Movies have been created from it, will not reflect in those movies, only to movies created henceforth.

DISE Cloud

Uploading a template for use in DISE Server

Templates may be uploaded using a DISE Cloud manager. To upload a template from DISE Composer, first you need to enter the details to connect to Server. This is done in the Composer's Project properties, DISE Server tab.

You will now see a pop up dialog requiring you to fill in a Server username and password. This dialog will also appear at Composer's startup. If the authentication is OK, a new button will be visible in the Publish section in the ribbon.

If it is not showing, please go to the Composer Preferences, Interface tab and select "DISE Server" under Publish method.

Next, open up a template that you have created. You will notice that the button changes text to Upload template to DISE Server. Click the button to upload. Click Close in the dialog appearing.

Add new from template to playlist

In DISE Server's web interface,

Drag-and-drop media files

In DISE Composer, you are able to drag-and-drop images and videos directly to the scene view. Equally, in DISE Bridge, you may drag-and-drop images and videos directly onto your playlist (channel). In both these cases, this is accomplished by the use of default templates. The default template will show the image or video fullscreen.

Default templates

Drag-and-drop media files such as images and videos directly to your Scene View or playlist in Bridge. This is possible through the use of default templates. A default template is basically an exported scene in a special location, which is "C:\DISEContent\System\Default Templates" (depending on DISEContent path). The scene will contain at least one template object of the neeed type and be chosen automatically. To replace the default single "image" template shipped with DISE with your own, do the following:

  • Move the file "C:\DISEContent\System\Default Templates\image_1080.disescene" to another directory.
  • In Composer create a new template movie as described above.
  • Insert an image object in the scene.
  • Select the image object and go to the Template tab in the ribbon.
  • Check the Object is a template object button.
  • You may also insert other objects in the scene but make sure there is only one template image object.
  • With the scene selected, select the Movie tab in the ribbon.
  • Under the Scene section, click Export > Scene.
  • Export the scene to "C:\DISEContent\System\Default Templates" with any name you choose.
  • Restart Composer to reload the custom default template.
