Creating a Channel

From DISE KnowledgeBase

Step by step

Each destination can contain one or more channels, by default a channel called "Main" is created but it is possible to add more custom channels. The channels defined will work as separate layers during playback (each playing independent of the other) so the first channel in the list will be shown at the bottom and the other channels displayed on top of that in order. Each channel can contain one or more DISE Movies.

1. Start DISE Bridge.

2. Go to the Destinations tab and click on the green plus symbol above the channel list or select Add from the Edit Channel menu. This will bring up the Add Channel dialog.

3. This new channel will need a unique name. It is good practice to make sure that the name matches the function of this channel or inform about what type of content it will be playing. For this tutorial we will call the channel "News Ticker" since this will be the function of the channel. Under the name field is a box named Exclusive Channel. Checking this will display this channel and no others. If we want to show the channel superimposed on underlying channels, we leave it unchecked.

4. Click OK to create this channel. Now our new "News ticker" channel is visible below the default channel "Main", this means that any content playing in this channel will be displayed on-top of the content in the "Main" channel.

5. Add content as you please in this channel by dragging-and-dropping into the right view. For some ideas, see Creating an RSS News Ticker.
