Windows 8

By default, the startup applications will not be launched until the user manually goes to the desktop. In Windows 8 (prior to update 8.1) instead have the desktop selected automatically:

In Windows 8.1, right click the taskbar, select Properties. Then select the Navigation tab and check When I sign in or close all apps on a screen, go to the desktop instead of Start.

Windows 10

The default zoom level may be set to 125%, which causes issues in some cases. To fix, please right click the Desktop, select Display settings, and change Change the size of text... to 100%.

Windows Server

We recommend running DISE Server on a Windows Server OS version 2008+.

As a manager or player - DISE Composer and DISE Replay does require Direct3D, they will most likely not work on a Windows Server OS. We cannot guarantee either a good performance or full support of graphics. You may get this error message on startup:

DISE Bridge and DISE Probe work on Windows Server later than 2003.

DISE Parser runs as Windows service and is particularly suited to running on Windows Server OS.

64-Bit editions

All DISE applications will run without any issues on Windows XP/Vista/7 64-bit editions. There is as yet no native 64-bit version of DISE.

Home/Pro editions

When it comes to DISE running on different Windows editions, there should not be any problems. DISE will use Direct3D for acceleration, and that should be available in all editions of Windows 7/Windows Vista or Windows XP. You should however read the limitations of a certain Windows edition (such as Home) carefully to make sure that you.

  1. Do not break any licensing rules.
  2. Will not lack any network functionality (such as domain support, VPN support).
  3. Have the hardware support required for your setup.

Recommended settings

In addition to the settings recommended in the installation articles above, there are some additional settings recommended for a finished player.
