Overview

It is possible to control and schedule the screens in your digital signage network. The requirement for this to work is that

  • The player has a cable contact with the screen of a supported type, generally RS-232 or Ethernet, as well as working drivers for the port.
  • The screen communication protocol is known and implemented by DISE.
  • Currently, only Windows players have the ability to control screens.

Depending on the abilities of the screen protocol, using screen control you are able to:

  • Checking if a screen is on or off.
  • Turning a screen on or off
  • Getting screen temperature.
  • Getting specified screen parameters.

DISE Cloud

Screen control requires that the monitoring add-on is licensed on the network. On the player, the screen control will be done by a screen communication service which is itself managed by DISE Control Center.

Setting up screen control

To set a player up with screen control,

  • Go into the player details.
  • Click Options > Control.

PlayerControl.png

  • Click the screen and click Edit.
  • Select the screen brand and model from the dropdowns.

  • Select the input method by which to communicate with the screen.
If the player has a COM port, it will have reported it while registering into DISE Server. If you have just recently installed drivers for a new COM port, please restart the player for it to register the new hardware into Server.
